Tiger Woods is awake and responsive after his serious car accident
Golf legend Tiger Woods was involved in a high-speed car crash in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The famous golfer was reportedly heading to Rolling Hills Country Club to continue filming for the series that will be broadcasted at Golf Digest and Golf TV.
According to the reports, Woods crossed a median, went across two lanes, hit a curb and trees until finally, his SUV rolled over. The statement issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department mentioned that the 45-year-old driver was conscious when the first responders arrived on the scene. He was then removed from the wreckage and taken to the hospital. The announcement ended by stating that the authorities will wait for the approval of the doctors treating him, to receive answers on the reason he lost control of the vehicle.
During the night, an update was released on his social media accounts, informing people that the immediate surgery he underwent, was successful. However, it was also reported that Woods suffered significant orthopedic injuries to his right lower extremity.
The good news is that he is awake and responding to the treatment. Fans from all over the world will be by his side during his recovery, giving him the strength to get back at what he loves the most.
His stay at California
Woods was in California for a two-day content shoot for Golf TV, a streaming service owned by Discovery channel, as a part of his endorsement deal. It was reported that he was supposed to be present in the meeting that was scheduled for 8 a.m. on Tuesday. NFL players Drew Brees and Justin Herbert were to join him. The accomplished quarterbacks could not understand why the golfer did not show up, until they heard the tragic news, as per ESPN’s reporter Shelley Smith.
A look at the career of the greatest golf player of all time
Tiger Woods is considered by many as the greatest golfer of all time, although he has fewer major titles in his resume than Jack Nicklaus, another legend of the sport.
His portfolio includes:
- a record-tying 82 PGA Tour events
- 15 majors, the latest of which came after an 11-year long wait
Throughout his career, there have been a lot of controversies, along with a significant number of injuries that definitely took their toll. However, his dominance on the sport is undeniable. Especially his achievements in the early 2000s elevate his status from a golf legend to a sports legend. After all, he was the one who won four consecutive majors between 2000 and 2001.
He won’t be able to swing a club for quite some time but we are sure that he will overcome the hardships he’s facing at the moment. However, until he is back, golf lovers can keep on betting through an original Bet365 account without limits. The next major championship is planned for April 8-11.
