Facundo Campazzo's dream journey
The life of Facundo Campazzo is one of those stories that reaffirm the mantra: “Everything is possible”. Nobody could imagine in 2004, when he was just 13 years old, that his name would be heard from the Pepsi Center PA system 16 years later, in his debut with the Denver Nuggets. If you watched that game, you know that you cannot miss any future NBA events offered by the best bookmakers. So hurry up and open an original Bet365 account through our exclusive service.
Facundo Campazzo was born in Córdoba, on March 23, 1991. As a boy, he was hyperactive and had to burn energy at any cost. Municipal de Córdoba was the club where he developed his first weapons. Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever and, when he was 14 years old, he went to Unión Eléctrica, another club in the same city.
That decision would also be pivotal, as, in October 2006, Unión Eléctrica traveled to Mar del Plata to play at the National Youth League. The team came up third, however, Campazzo caught the eye of Peñarol's coach, Osvaldo Mario Echevarría.
The jump to the first division
Two years after that tournament, on October 10, he debuted at the highest division of Argentinian basketball, under the guidance of Sergio Hernández. Just two minutes were enough to savor what was to come.
Step by step, he made his way to get it all at the end: four National Basketball League, one FIBA Americas League and three Super 8 Basketball Tournaments. Furthermore, the individual accomplishments were not in short supply: MVP in the 2010 Argentine Cup, another recognition in the 2011 and 2013 Super 8s and in the 2013/14 Argentine League finals.
Opening new horizons
Europe charmed him at the end of that campaign. In August 2014, his arrival to the all-powerful Real Madrid was made official. Life put him to the test again and, at the end of November, just when he had played for just a few minutes in Liga ACB and EuroLeague, he suffered an ankle injury that took him out for the rest of the year.
The recovery resulted in a lot of lost time that took him back. The Merengues used him as a third or even fourth option in his position, so he did not get to play much. Consequently, he was loaned to Murcia, where he took stepped up and moved on to sweep everything. He was hungry for glory and he was ready for it.
He established himself as a top point guard, helping his team qualify for the play-offs. In the 2016/17 season, Murcia played in the Eurocup. This was a historic moment for the club, since it was the first time they had reached that level. In the international competition, the team qualified for the second phase, the top 16, while Facundo was chosen within the second ideal quintet of the tournament.
After his outstanding performance at the Palacio de Deportes, Campazzo returned to Real Madrid not to leave for a long time. This time, he took on a bigger role than before, becoming the team's starting point guard and one of the best in Europe. There were 11 titles for him during this period: 4 Super Cups (2014, 2018, 2019 and 2020); 3 Liga ACB (2014/15, 2017/18 and 2018/19) titles; 2 EuroLeagues (2014/15 and 2017/18) and 2 Copas del Rey (2015 and 2020).
